Hudson Valley marketing and public relations firm Media Solstice has earned certification as a Women-Owned Business Enterprise (WBE) by the New York State Department of Economic Development, Division of Minority and Women’s Business Development (DMWBD), making it the only agency in the Mid-Hudson to have earned both WBE and Google Partners status.
The DMWBD focuses on promoting equality of economic opportunities for MWBEs and eliminating barriers to their participation in state contracts. DMWBD offers increased access to information and opportunities for MWBEs throughout the state. In 2015, women-owned businesses accounted for 31 percent of all privately held firms and contributed to 14 percent of employment and 12 percent of revenues, according to the National Association of Women Business Owners.
As part of the WBE certification, Media Solstice will be listed on the NYS Directory of Certified Firms, have access to New York State bid and grant opportunities, as well as events, trainings, webinars, and other resources reserved for certified WBEs.

To be certified as a WBE, the business must be at least 51 percent owned by a woman (or women). In addition, a woman must hold the highest position at the company and be active in daily management and the strategic direction of the company, lending herself as a top visionary. Media Solstice is entirely owned and operated by Gardner, and 75 percent of its team are professional women.
Media Solstice is now the only New York State Certified Women-Owned Business Enterprise in Orange, Ulster, Sullivan, and Dutchess counties that is also a Certified Google Partner (certified in the fields of both search and mobile advertising). The Google Partner badge demonstrates the confidence that Google – an industry leader in technology, information, marketing, software, search, and so much more – has in an agency’s digital expertise, and allows special access to training, the latest research, and product updates.
